I tried starting App Academy Open, and it was ridiculous to get started as a beginner. At the same time I started Flatiron School’s Intro to Ruby and Bootcamp prep… Those were definitely more suitable for beginners and helped me get a feel for everthing.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who found their free version odd. I ended up not applying to App Academy because of it. I‘m happy though because I ended up going with Flatiron School and they’ve been nothing but helpful, I’ve learned so much in very little time!

App Academy should rethink their process. The open version actively kept me from applying to their school. I thought their curriculum was poorly done, because they claim it is the same as their paid version.
